God’s timing and purpose

When I first set out to start my subscription box, I had so many expectations. I knew that it was what God wanted me to do so I just assumed that it would take off and people would love it and that I would have 100 subscriptions within a year. What I failed to realize was that maybe God had a different plan for my box. Maybe his timing was different than mine. To be honest, my box hasn’t taken off like I had hoped. I began to get frustrated because I was doing everything that I was told to do to make it work. At one point I almost threw my hands up and quit. I just sent out my sixth box. That’s only six months of a brand new business and I wanted to quit. What?! I know, I am hearing the madness too! I have decided to continue being consistent and just love on the people who are subscribers and keep going.
Well, Tuesday night we went to my oldest daughter‘s parent teacher conference and we talked about grades and things that she is doing well and things that she needs to work on and then her teachers said to me “we have seen a new confidence in herself that wasn’t there at the beginning of the year“ “she is also a great kid and a good friend to others“ “She always sits with the kid that is by themselves and includes them.” hearing that, made my heart swell with pride. I told her that I was more proud of her for that than I ever would be for her grades. She is developing an amazing character, the type of character that I set out to raise. Later that night I realized that even if my box doesn’t work and I don’t change hundreds of girls lives, I’ve changed two, the lives of my own girls. Maybe that is the purpose of Sparkle! Your ministry starts at home. I have vowed to be more involved with teaching at church on Wednesday nights, coaching and being involved in my kids and their friends lives. Maybe Sparkle! Is just a tool in my toolbox to help the girls feel like they are enough and encourage them to be their best and to develop the same character that I see in my daughter. God’s timing is not my timing, God’s plan is not my plan and God’s purpose for things is not the same as mine. Remember this when you are frustrated about something that didn’t meet your expectations or something that isn’t going according to your plan. “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28
